The HYPE! Awards acknowledge young professionals, businesses, individuals and organizations that excel in each of the areas of opportunity identified by the Canadian Junior Chamber.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Awards will be presented at the HYPE! Awards & Dinner to be held on Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 (6:30pm-9:30pm) at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre.
THE AWARDS Excellence in Business Development
This award is designed to recognize youth, professionals, businesses, individuals and organizations that have excelled in the development and enhancement of the economic infrastructure, prosperity and well being of business in Cape Breton. In addition, their activities increase local networks, builds a spirit of entrepreneurship and the development of transferable skills to themselves or others in the community.
Excellence in Community Development
This award is designed to recognize youth, professionals, businesses, individuals and organizations that have excelled in contributing to the community through their meaningful volunteer efforts in local charities, events and community-based initiatives.
Excellence in Individual Development
This award is designed to recognize youth, professionals, businesses, individuals and organizations that have excelled in the development of individuals through training and/or mentoring to allow people in the community to realize their personal potential. Areas of opportunity may include, but not limited to, business/entrepreneurship, arts and culture, athletics/recreation, research & technology.
Excellence in International Development
This award is designed to recognize youth, professionals, businesses, individuals and organizations that have excelled in the development of goodwill, understanding and cooperation among people of all nationalities, participate in or have interest in foreign relations, advocate/educate others in our local community on the importance of international relations and advancement of global involvement.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? "Youth, professionals, businesses, individuals and organizations from across Cape Breton Island, Recipients should be between the ages of 18 & 40.

Nomination Form
Please complete the Online Nomination Form in full. The nomination form is also available as a printable PDF. The nomination will be considered along side other nominations and therefore, the selection committee needs to be given a clear idea of what the nominee has done to fulfill the criteria of the award. Please ensure that you include a detailed description that reflects the candidate's accomplishments in relation to the award. All information provided is treated as strictly confidential.
Supporting Documents
To be properly considered by the selection committee, 'Letters of Reference' can accompany all nominations to a maximum of two. It is also often appropriate to attach the nominee's resume/profile and a list of activities and accomplishments in your nomination. The attachments must be relevant and current.

How Are Nominations Considered?
The HYPE! Awards Selection Committee is chaired by members of JCI: Cape Breton and other prominent business, academic and community members. Winners will be informed at one week prior to the event so that they have an opportunity to attend.
